Artist Spotlight: Diane and Bill Newland have been

Artist Spotlight: Diane and Bill Newland have been Park City residents since the 1970’s and began working with crystals, making jewelry, and importing beautiful accessories and goods from South East Asia in 1989. Diane was a high school geography teacher when she and her husband decided to travel through Southeast Asia during her summer breaks. She would come home and wear the unique and incredible indigenous tribal clothing, purses, scarves and jewelry she had picked up abroad to school and it didn’t take long for Diane’s friends and fellow teachers to show an interest in her unique attire.

From that time on, the Newlands spent every summer traveling in Thailand, India, Nepal, Burma, Bali, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, collecting clothing and accessories and creating relationships with the local artisans. Now, Diane and Bill make their own unique jewelry, along with importing handmade weavings, jewelry, purses and scarves from local artisans they have met throughout the years. They also personally smudge and cleanse each jewelry piece before it is sent to you.
